Mylo's Birthday Extravaganza

Yesterday was a CRAZY busy day. The boys, my mom and I started out early and headed to Goodwill for 50% off Day. This is a bi-weekly favorite activity of ours. We love us some Goodwill. Maxton found an awesome Christmas train to go around the tree!
Next, we headed to Cool Cuts for some haircuts. The boys' heads were starting look abnormally shaped due to their long, flowing manes. Outside of the "barber shop", there is a large fountain/garden that the boys always like to go see. Snapped some good "after" pics.
We headed home to start cooking. Mylo requested a lemon birthday cake. I added a layer of raspberry preserves to the middle, just for some pizzaz.

I decided it was probably a good idea to open the presents up early so the kiddos could play and be outta my hair while I was cooking. The boys had a good time playing with Aunt Rhondi too!

Included in the loot was a new beginner skateboard, cap guns with a pistol, rifle, holster, bandana, cowboy wagon for cowboys/indians set, nerf guns, etc. Great day!

Happy Birthday, Mylo!

Well, my sweet boy turned five today. Mylo is officially a "big kid". I "quote" that because, when I was pregnant, I stumbled upon the website Babycenter.com. It is this wonderful bounty of information that I tirelessly combed and carefully tracked my weekly progress. On the top toolbar of this website is a long timeline. It starts with the various stages of your pregnancy, on to baby, toddler, preschooler, big kid, and finally ends at age 9. Mylo has reached the "Big Kid" bracket and it makes me a little sad. Time goes so fast, it's almost unfair. When Mylo was tiny and I was going through all those long days with a newborn/baby, I couldn't imagine him being a big boy. Now that he is big, I find it hard to remember every detail about him being tiny. That makes me sad too. I'm typing this post with tears in my eyes as I reminisce and have to pause to yell at the "Big Kid" to stop fighting with his brother. :)

Anyway, Mylo decided to celebrate by going to McDonald's to eat and play on the playground. A blast was had by all and I ate about 40 too many french fries. After, we headed to our house where my Mom brought over a monster cake and Mylo opened a present. He decided to save the rest of his loot for his birthday BBQ on Saturday.

Best part was when Mylo hugged me and said, "Thanks for the birthday, Mom."
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MYLO!!

October!

October is a BIG month in our house. Mylo and Maxton both celebrate birthdays... we have Halloween... and it's the official start of the holidays! Fall is my most favorite time of year and we're all looking forward to saying goodbye to this seemingly endless summer.
I like the days where you can stay in your jammies all day and hibernate!
