We had our very first trip to the dentist today. Mylo got a cleaning (and two fillings) and Maxton watched to prepare himself for his turn. We went to The Dental Depot on 35th Ave/Greenway. It was the COOLEST place ever. The three of us are pretty into trains. Especially Maxton. This office is for both children and adults and was very nicely done.
There are a few different Mylo did a crazy good job for his very first time. He listened and didn't cry or even flinch once. After we were finished, I asked if it hurt at all. He said it did a little, but he never showed it.
Mylo thought it was pretty cool that he got a new toothbrush and toothpaste. I thought it was pretty cool he got a train tshirt for his first visit!

Karate Kid
Last night was another karate class for Mylo. Followed by our Wednesday night dinner w/ Nana at IHOP. Mylo is really taking this karate stuff seriously and is so focused on the teacher during class. The kids got to do a special exercise where they ran to four different parents and did a different "move". It was pretty cool.
He's growing too big too fast. Two weeks from today, he'll be five!!

Open House
Tonight was Open House/Meet the Teacher night at Tony and Andrew's school.
First stop was Tony's class. Ms. Koile's 4th grade.
Lots of cool science and math stuff happening in the 4th grade!
Maxton enjoyed pretending to be a 4th grader too.
Next, we were off to Ms. Webb's 2nd grade class to check out Andrew's room.
We all really enjoyed seeing the colorful classroom and having Andrew walk us through his day.
Both boys' teachers had nothing but wonderful things to say about both Tony and Andrew. Pretty proud of those guys!

Vacay? I Think Not...
Well, it looks like I'll be "enjoying" a few days off from work. Seems I was exposed to Pertussis in the NYICU at the hospital and have "suggestive" symptoms making it necessary for Employee Health to send me (and a few others) home for five days. I only feel SLIGHTLY under the weather and have been vaccinated (along w/ the kiddos) so I'm sure we'll be okay. Guess I will catch up on my shows for the next few days and take these antibiotics they're passin out like candy. Better make sure all my favorite jammies are clean!

Ten Years Later and a Desk Chair Re-Do
Can we believe it's been ten years since "that day"? I was a sophmore in high school. It seems like yesterday, but then I realize how much has happened since. I now have two kids. I've worked at the hospital for almost 9 years. TIME FLIES. We remember that day and what we felt like it was minutes ago almost. Just like everyone says, "We will never forget."
That being said, we had a pretty productive day around here. Aside from our normal weekend chores, I was able to sand, repaint, and reupholster a chair to go with my desk. I found this chair a few weeks ago at Goodwill for $2.50. I didn't take any before pictures, but the chair was just a polished, dark wood with a cream colored cushion. I love the way it turned out!

Drip...Drip...Drip
It's super cloudy at our house right now and we have our fingers crossed for a downpour. See, apparently we have a leak going on (evidenced by an outrageous water bill)and were advised to shut our sprinkler system off until we get it figured out. I've been just short of obsessed with caring for the lawns and making them green and lush. That being said, a serious downpour would be most appreciated. The sky sure does look promising...

Karate Chopper
Mylo started his beginner karate class yesterday and LOVED it.
The class is held in an elementary school cafeteria and there were TONS of kids. Mylo wasn't shy for a second and really payed close attention while some of the other kiddos kinda twirled around and looked at the ceiling. I understand the 4 year old's attention span is slim, especially when there are so many people to look at, but I was secretly extra proud that my kid wasn't one of the twirlers. HA!
An extra special surprise for Mylo was when his Nana showed up and even bought him a Gi.

Happy Birthday, Andrew!
Andrew turns 8 tomorrow. We celebrated today with brats on the grill (his request), pasta salad and strawberry cream cheese cake (which fell apart...don't ask). Andrew is really into skateboarding and got a new skateboard, ramp, and Tony Hawk Wii game among other things. He's in heaven. We had a nice quiet evening and not too huge a mess. (My favorite)
Wish this three day weekend didn't have to end so soon, but it was a good one.
